Tucked away in the small town of Yarrow, British Columbia, just outside of Chilliwack (about an hour from vancouver), lies a gem that feels like something out of a dream: The Hazelnut Inn. This magical, fairytale-themed boutique hotel is unlike anywhere I’ve ever stayed. It’s not just a place to sleep, it’s an immersive experience that stirs the imagination and soothes the soul.

A Place Built with Heart and Imagination

From the moment you arrive, you can feel the love that went into creating The Hazelnut Inn. This isn’t a chain hotel or a quickly thrown together Instagram gimmick, it’s a labor of love, built by hand by the incredible family who runs it. Every detail, from the sculpted exterior to the hand-painted flourishes, is filled with care and creativity.

Our Enchanted Getaway

I had the pleasure of staying at The Hazelnut Inn with my dear friend Ruby Roxx, and we each had our own suite—because every room here is its own little world.

Ruby’s Suite: The North star

Ruby stayed in the North Star Suite, which felt like the quarters of a whimsical adventurer. Think nautical meets Neverland: rich colours, treasures, a split level and cozy corners perfect for plotting your next voyage. It’s the kind of room that stirs up your inner explorer and makes you want to never grow up. The gorgeous hand painted ceiling was my favourite part of this room.

My Suite: The Under hill

I stayed in the brand new Under Hill Suite and I’m still dreaming about it. The best way to describe it? A charming blend between a cozy hobbit hole and the soft woodland charm of a Beatrix Potter tale.

Just like the other suites, It had its own completely private yard with a fireplace, perfect for winding down in the evening. Inside, the suite was beautifully appointed with a lush king sized bed (it was SO comfy), heated floors, a kitchenette, and a deep soaker tub that I could’ve lived in. Every inch of the room felt warm, magical and deeply comforting. The bathroom was big enough to have a party in!

A Little Dress-Up Magic

Because a place like this deserves to be celebrated in style, Ruby and I took the opportunity to do a little dressing up to match the fairytale vibes. We had a magical photoshoot with Emily Peter Photography, who absolutely captured the soul of the space and our whimsical moods. Her images truly brought the fantasy to life. I wore beautiful bespoke corsets by Lace Embrace Atelier and felt like a storybook princess.

Why You Should Visit

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a creative escape or even just a place to reconnect with your imagination, I can’t recommend The Hazelnut Inn enough. It’s locally owned, crafted with love and steeped in magic.
